Baked ravioli

Ingredients

  • 2 Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 lb Italian sausage, casings removed
  • 1/2 lb ground beef
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 small yellow onion, minced
  • 2 large tomatoes, diced small
  • 15-oz can tomato sauce
  • 4 Tbsp tomato paste
  • 2 Tbsp dried basil
  • 2 Tbsp dried oregano
  • 2 Tbsp dried garlic
  • Coarse salt, to taste
  • Freshly ground pepper, to taste
  • 2 cups red wine or beef stock
  • 1 lb store-bought frozen ravioli, defrosted in refrigerator
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in large skillet or pot over medium-high heat.
  2. Add sausage and ground beef, breaking up with a wooden spoon, until meat starts to brown.
  3. Add garlic and onion, stirring occasionally, until meat is cooked through.
  4. Stir in tomatoes, tomato sauce and tomato paste. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Stir in basil, oregano, garlic powder, salt, pepper and red wine or beef stock.
  6. Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
  7. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  8. In bottom on 9x13-inch pan, pour 2 cups of sauce.
  9. Cover with layer of ravioli.
  10. Pour remaining sauce on top.
  11. Sprinkle with cheeses.
  12. Bake 30 minutes, or until cheese is melted and golden.
