Chesseburger Spring Rolls Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon plus 2 cups vegetable oil, divided
- 1/2 medium yellow onion, peeled and diced
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 10 tablespons shredded Cheddar cheese
- 10 egg roll wrappers
- 1 large egg, beaten
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, heat 1 tablespoon oil 30 seconds, then add onion and garlic. Cook 2 minutes. Add beef, salt, and pepper. Cook until beef is no longer pink about 5 minutes
- Remove pan from heat and drain. Mix mustard and ketchup into beef mixture and allow to cool slightly, about 10 minutes. Set aside.
- In a large, heavy-bottomed pot over medium-heat, add remaining 2 cups vegetable oil. It should measure to a depth of about 1". Heat until oil reaches 350 degrees Fahrenheit
- Line a large plate with paper towels and set aside.
- Lay 1 egg roll wrapper with a point facing toward you. Spoon 2 tablespoons beef mixture onto middle of wrapper. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon cheese onto meat. Brush egg onto the opposite two sides of wrapper. Roll up like a burrito, making sure all filling is sealed inside. Repeat with remaining wraps and fillings.
- Place 4 rolls in hot oil and cook 2 minutes per side, until golden brown. Remove to lined plate. Repeat with remaining rolls.
